FCT poll: APGA rejects INEC’s new 20 polling units in Gwagwalada

The Gwagwalada Area Council chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has rejected the creation of 20 additional polling units by the FCT Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the area council.

Chairman of APGA in the area, Solomon Umezuruike, while addressing a press conference in Gwagwalada yesterday advised INEC to revert to the old voting points as they were previously recognized by all political parties involved.

He said the electorate cannot be aware of any additional polling units few days to the council election, alleging that the decision by the commission to create additional polling units on the eve of an election was an attempt to manipulate the poll.

Reacting, the INEC Electoral Officer (EO) in Gwagwalada, Hajiya Jummai Abubakar, said she has no power to create additional polling units, even as she said it was an additional voting points that were created by the commission at some new settlements across the FCT.
