Teacher arrested for raping student

A 28-year-old man has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping an 18-year-old student in a school in Kubwa, Abuja. 

The suspect, a teacher, who organizes extra-mural lessons for students in the area, was said to have previously had carnal knowledge of the victim before the recent incident.

City News gathered that suspect, who coaches students preparing for the Senior Schools Certificate Examination and JAMB at a school in the area, raped the student in one of the classrooms.

A source told our reporter that  the suspect had requested for the victim’s measurement which he used to sew a school uniform for her.

The source added that the victim was lured to the classroom that fateful day by the suspect under the pretense that he wanted to put her through in one of the difficult subjects.

“As soon as she entered the classroom, the man started caressing her and later removed her clothes before he had carnal knowledge of her,” the source said.

The source said the victim later narrated her ordeal to her parents who subsequently reported the matter to the police.

City News further learnt that the suspect, who was later arrested, admitted to the crime, confessing that it was not the first time he had met with the victim.  

Confirming the incident, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Chief Superintendent Nuruddeen Sabo, said the matter would be transferred to the State CID.
